The Virtual Weatherman™ optional external USB Relay allows control of 4 relay contact outputs, 4 contact or TTL inputs, and 4 event counters via a USB port, converting your the PC into a powerful programmable controller. High quality relays offer superior performance. This low-cost interface works natively with the Virtual Weatherman™ software to accept input in the form of contact closures from your automation system, and to provide relay closures back to your automation, EAS device, interrupt system, bypassing the need for audio control of your EAS device. The relay is external, so there is never any need to open the PC's case. There is no software to install. Simply connect the relay's USB cable to any open USB port on the PC running the VW™ software. Iit will be automatically detected, and ready for use immediately. Should the host PC ever fail, it takes only seconds to unplug the relay from the failed PC, and connect it to any other PC on your network right along with the VW™ software.
